Puting Bato is the highest peak in the Island Garden City of Samal, rising approximately 1,345 feet (410 meters) above sea level. The name “Puting Bato” translates to “White Rock,” a reference to the pale limestone face that’s visible from afar. This hike is a must for adventure seekers and nature lovers looking for panoramic views of the Davao Gulf, Samal’s coastline, and even the Davao City skyline on a clear day.
The trail to the summit varies in difficulty depending on the chosen route. The Guilon and Sitio Tayapoc trails are the most popular, offering either a more direct climb or a gentler, winding path. Along the way, you’ll encounter farmlands, rock formations, and forested areas—making the journey just as rewarding as the destination.
